ABC Life Literacy Canada is a national non-profit organization that has been inspiring Canadians to improve their literacy skills since 1990. We work with businesses, governments, communities, and individuals across Canada to create and share free literacy programming for adults and families. Our programming covers financial literacy, family literacy, workplace literacy, health literacy, digital literacy, and civic literacy.

About the role
The Outreach Coordinator, Punjabi Community will be responsible for outreach, coordination, and community engagement for ABC’s financial literacy program, Money Matters. You’ll specialize in promoting and coordinating workshops with community learning centres and social service agencies that serve Punjabi speaking communities.You’ll report to the Programs Manager and work with their Programs team. Our team of Coordinators oversees the planning and implementation of ABC’s outreach strategies: that’s how we get our programming to the organizations and learners who need it.
This is a part-time role with flexible hours. Much of the work will need to be done during standard business hours, but we are able to accommodate a wide array of schedules that may require flexibility around work, school, care giving, or other responsibilities.
You will:
- Initiate, develop, and maintain relationships with key partners, with a special focus on Punjabi serving community organizations.
- Work with partner organizations to coordinate workshop details including sending workbooks, securing volunteers, sharing tips and resources for workshop best practices
- Manage and lead outreach (email, phone, presentations, webinars, etc.) to community learning centres to ensure we meet our annual targets (learners reached, volunteer opportunities created, organizations engaged)
- Grow ABC's reach for our financial literacy program
- Manage volunteer training, participation, and engagement
- Support writing projects (curriculum, marketing & communications, grants, reports) and program promotion
- Support national program promotion, including developing promotional materials, and training staff & external partners
Qualifications
To be a successful Coordinator, you will have:
- at least 1 year of prior work experience
- experience volunteering or working with Punjabi community-based organizations
- excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- a strong customer service-orientation
- an interest in lifelong learning and literacy
- data entry experience (Salesforce preferred)
- administrative skills (email, record-keeping, etc.)
Assets
Have the following? Even better.
- Bilingual - English/Punjabi
- Experience with English to Punjabi translation
- Experience working with adult learning programs
- Experience working with remote teams
- Experience delivering virtual presentations
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
Contract: Part-time (flexible schedule, capped at 112 hours)
Compensation: $26.34 per hour
