About ABC Literacy Canada
ABC Life Literacy Canada is a national non-profit organization that has been inspiring Canadians to improve their literacy skills since 1990. We envision a Canada where everyone has the skills they need to live a fully engaged life. We work with businesses, governments, communities, and individuals across Canada to create and share free literacy programming for adults and families. Our programming covers financial literacy, family literacy, workplace literacy, health literacy, digital literacy, and civic literacy.
About our team
ABC has a small, nimble, and high-performing team. We’re a group of approximately 18 ambitious lifelong learners, keen to make a difference in communities across Canada and grow our skills while we’re at it. We care about the literacy learners, teachers, and volunteers we support. Compassion is an important part of our work. So is being effective and efficient and operating at high capacity. Right now, we work remotely and have team members based in Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, and Manitoba.
About the role
We are currently looking for a new Community Coordinator for the West and North region (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, Nunavut, Northwest Territories, and Yukon). The Community Coordinator will report to the Community Engagement Manager, and work closely with our programs team (including Programs Specialists, Program Managers, Facilitators, and other Coordinators) to lead outreach and workshop coordination in your region for ABC’s literacy and learning programs.
You will:
- Initiate, develop, and maintain relationships with key partners in your region and nationally, as applicable
- Work with partner organizations to coordinate workshop details including sending workbooks, securing facilitators, sharing tips and resources for workshop best practices
- Manage and lead outreach (email, phone, presentations, webinars, etc.) to community learning centres in your region to ensure we meet our annual targets (learners reached, volunteer opportunities created, organizations engaged)
- Grow ABC's reach in your region year over year
- Manage volunteer training, participation, and engagement
- Write summaries and detailed reports as needed
- Own record-keeping and reporting, including updating our project management system, data entry, and evaluation analysis
- Support national program promotion, including developing promotional materials, training staff & external partners, presenting at conferences
- Occasionally perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
To be a successful Community Coordinator, you will have:
- At least 1 year of prior work experience
- excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- data entry experience (Salesforce preferred)
- administrative skills (email, record-keeping, etc.)
- a strong customer service-orientation
- an interest in lifelong learning and literacy
A successful Community Coordinator is a lifelong learner and is interested in and enthusiastic about literacy, with a willingness to learn more about the cause. You must be eligible to work in Canada and set up to work remotely.
Assets:
Have the following? Even better.
- Experience working with adult learning programs
- An existing network of contacts in educational non-profits
- Cultural competency in working with diverse populations, including Indigenous communities and Indigenous-led organizations
- Bilingual - French/English
- Experience working with remote teams
- Experience delivering virtual presentations
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Familiar with Google Suite, Zoom, Survey Monkey, Salesforce, and MS Office
Contract: one year; full-time (35 hours per week)
Annual salary: $48,000-$57,000 + 15 days annual vacation + option to join ABC’s benefits plan

Compensation
